Medical Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City: What to Expect

A treatment stay needs an e-visa valid up to 90 days, or the 45-day exemption if your country is covered. City International Hospital publishes a price list. Tam Anh's web prices are for reference, and FV's package prices are for self-pay patients only. At Vinmec, cashless billing covers only insurers that signed an agreement.

Treatment here runs through private hospitals that post prices in VND, bill your insurer directly only if they have an agreement with it, and arrange an interpreter when you ask. Sort the visa first, then the money.

Which visa covers a treatment stay?

An e-visa is granted to citizens of all countries and territories. It is valid for a maximum of 90 days, for single or multiple entries. The fee is 25 USD for a single entry and 50 USD for multiple entries.

Citizens of the countries named in Resolution 44/NQ-CP get 45 days of stay from the date of entry, for any purpose. Check your passport on the visa exemption page before you pick the e-visa. A course that runs past those days needs an extension; see the extension guide.

What does treatment cost?

City International Hospital’s price list carries the note that prices may change without notice. These seven lines are a sample.

Tam Anh posts reference price lists on its website. FV Hospital’s package prices apply to self-pay patients only, not to patients whose treatment is covered by health insurance. For prices by treatment, see the guides on dentists, IVF and having a baby.

How do payment and insurance work for a foreigner?

At Vinmec, cashless billing applies only to insurers that signed a direct billing agreement with Vinmec. Check whether your insurer is one of FV’s more than 100 direct billing partners on its partners page (opens in a new tab). For any other hospital, get the answer in writing from your insurer before you book.

• FV Hospital has direct billing agreements with over 100 private insurers. For life-insurance holders, direct billing covers inpatient treatment only.
• FV asks for a minimum deposit equal to the average cost of a three-day stay for internal medicine and paediatric admissions. The admission officer gives you the exact amount on the day of your pre-admission meeting.
• At Vinmec you present your passport and insurance card on arrival. The guarantee confirmation takes 15-45 minutes, depending on the insurer.
• At Raffles Medical, direct billing needs a completed credit card authorisation form, and you remain liable for payment until the insurer settles the full amount.
• Victoria Healthcare asks for your insurance card and the card owner’s ID card or passport. If the insurer denies part or all of the bill, you pay the clinic directly.
• For insurers Victoria has no agreement with, it offers a Claim Support Service.
• Hoan My Sai Gon runs international direct billing through insurance partners and third-party administrators.

To register at FV Hospital, show a national ID card, passport or (for children) birth certificate, together with your health insurance card if you have one.

Which hospitals hold international accreditation?

FV Hospital was awarded JCI accreditation four times in a row, 2016 to 2025. Vinmec Central Park was re-accredited by JCI for the third time in 2024. Hoan My Sai Gon is certified by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI).

Language and who to contact before you fly

FV Hospital provides free interpretation in Japanese, Korean, Khmer, Chinese, Russian, French, English and other languages, available 24/7 on request. When you book, ask for an interpreter so one is arranged for the appointment. Hoan My Sai Gon’s international clinic has bilingual physicians.
