Having a Baby in Ho Chi Minh City: Hospitals and Prices

A normal delivery in a standard room costs VND 45,000,000 on the FV Thomson entry package. Tam Anh's standard packages run from VND 31,430,000 to VND 41,010,000, depending on the week you sign up. FV package prices do not apply when international insurance pays. Register the birth within 60 days.

A normal delivery in a standard room costs VND 45,000,000 on FV Thomson’s entry package. A first C-section on the same package costs VND 55,000,000. Tam Anh prices its standard package by the week you sign up, from week 12 to week 36.

Short version: pick FV for one all-in price in English. Pick Tam Anh for the lowest price and a package that starts earlier in pregnancy. Pick Hung Vuong for the public hospital. Prices below are the tables each hospital shows, checked on 15 October 2026.

Delivery package prices side by side

FV Thomson sells four package levels. The figures are for a standard room, except the last row, which is a VIP room.

Upgrading the entry package for a normal delivery to a single room costs VND 51,000,000, and to a family room VND 61,000,000. FV package prices do not apply when international insurance covers you.

Tam Anh’s standard single-baby packages cost less the later you sign up. Figures are in VND.

Tam Anh calls this a reference table and tells you to contact the hospital for the cost on the day you use the service. Its prices changed on 4 May 2026; a package bought before that date keeps the old price.

Comparing FV and Tam Anh fairly

The two tables buy different things.

FV’s price covers the delivery stay: obstetrician consultations with an ultrasound, the delivery or operating theatre, epidural as indicated and 3 nights in a standard room for a normal delivery. Tam Anh’s price is a pregnancy-to-delivery package that starts at the week you sign up. It adds scans such as the weeks 20-25 morphology ultrasound and a bed in a standard or VIP room.

For a like-for-like check with epidural, FV’s entry package is VND 45,000,000 and Tam Anh’s week 12 package is VND 44,670,000. Tam Anh’s costs the same but also carries the check-ups from week 12. Tam Anh’s week 36 package, at VND 35,080,000, is the nearest to a delivery-only price.

FV Thomson Maternity at FV Hospital

FV Thomson Maternity is a collaboration between FV Hospital and Thomson Medical Group. FV Hospital is at 6 Nguyen Luong Bang Street, Tan My Ward. It holds JCI accreditation, awarded four times in a row from 2016 to 2025.

Every FV Thomson package covers:

• epidural, regional or general anaesthesia as indicated;
• a family member in the delivery suite or operating theatre;
• the baby’s first hepatitis B and tuberculosis vaccine shots.

The Gold package adds newborn hearing screening and congenital heart disease screening. The most exclusive package includes post-partum psychological and depression screening for the mother.

Call (028) 35 11 33 33 about packages. The line is staffed Monday to Saturday 7:00-21:00 and Sunday 7:00-17:00.

Tam Anh General Hospital

Tam Anh sells the standard package in two tiers. Standard prices are in the table above. The VIP tier for a normal delivery without obstetric epidural costs VND 59,280,000 at week 12 and VND 41,510,000 at week 36.

New birth packages include one post-partum nutrition visit for the mother and one newborn check for each baby, valid 30 days after the birth. Call 0287 102 6789 for the current price.

Vinmec Central Park International Hospital

Vinmec runs a maternity package from week 12, 22, 27 and 36 of pregnancy. The delivery package is open to mothers who have not registered for earlier maternity care. It applies at all Vinmec hospitals except Vinmec Da Nang.

Vinmec Central Park is at 720A Dien Bien Phu Street, Thanh My Tay Ward. Its hotline is 0283 6221 166. Vinmec sells the labour package after a consultation: you leave your details on its maternity page and the hospital contacts you.

Vinmec Central Park is JCI re-accredited for the third time. Cashless billing applies only to insurers that have signed a direct billing agreement with Vinmec.

Hung Vuong Hospital (Bệnh viện Hùng Vương)

Hung Vuong is the public option. It is a specialist obstetrics and gynaecology hospital, grade I, central level, run under the HCMC Department of Health. It has 900 beds, 100 of them for newborns.

It was the first public medical facility in Vietnam to reach the ACHS International EQuIP7 standard. Pregnancy check-ups run under four tracks: expert, service, fee-paying and health insurance.

Its on-demand services are priced on their own page. They include a family labour room and obstetric pain relief. The switchboard is (028) 3855 8532.

Insurance and who pays

Three rules cover most cases:

• FV accepts Vietnam’s state health insurance (the local card scheme) for maternity services.
• Pregnancy sits among the common exclusions in insurance policies, and some plans cover pregnancy care.
• FV has direct billing agreements with over 100 private insurers; its package prices do not apply under international insurance.

Register the birth within 60 days

The father or mother registers the birth within 60 days. Filing online costs 0 dong. The birth registration guide covers the ward office, papers, nationality and fees.

Not confirmed: How many nights Tam Anh's package covers. Confirm the night count when you buy, because FV's tables state 3 nights for a normal delivery and 4 for a C-section.
